When have you last seen a place so unexpectedly beautiful and serene? This trip to the Uttaranchal region in India was completely unplanned and on a whim - no research, no planned photo shoots, no destination in mind. It is a short train ride from Delhi to Kathgodam (the last train station of the track) and then a car ride up the valley. What blew me first was how vast the entire region is. The valleys go on forever and since I went during the rainy season, every place had the freshly washed look. Small brooks and large waterfalls just appeared out of nowhere. I spent just a couple of days here and it is one of those places I definitely need to go back to really understand them.
