I have flown through Changi multiple time and it was the most fascinating airport that I had ever visited. I went back in 2016 after a long gap of 15+ years and the older part of the airport seemed much smaller. Only later did I realize that Changi is now expanding to become the world's largest airport. Singapore definitely needs it own dedicated page but right now I will focus just on photography and that too with a cell phone. And I really don't think this is about cell phone photography. Singapore is beautiful and vibrant and majestic by itself that you really don't need gear to get decent photos. These photos are taken using a Nexus 6P during a business visit in between business dinners and meetings with slight processing in LR. And while I was getting the EXIF data off LR, I realized the curious fact about how cell phones set the ISO and shutter speed to a much granular level (take a look at the image data).

Landed in Singapore after taking one of the longest flights on the planet (SFO - SIN) and was ready to get some shut eye before running off to the office. And to my exasperation, I had forgotten to ask for an early check in. The hotel people were kind enough to get me to a hot shower and my bed a little earlier but asked me to wait for a few minutes before they could get the room ready. While I waited in the lounge area, it was a beautiful day breaking over Singapore and the view was just fascinating. And it was then that I realized how green the city is including its rooftops!

We really have an office with a view. Though we only have a small narrow window that has a view to the Marina Bay Sands, we still have an amazing view of the Singapore Sports Hub. And on a clear day you can see the hustle and bustle of ocean liners in the Singapore strait.

So coming to Marina Bay Sands it is truly a spectacle. And like most other spectacles, it is lined by haute couture shops that look impeccably kept and absolutely empty, the uniform global smell that permeates their malls and extravagant architecture that defies all logic and still leaves every tourist wide eyed. What stood out was the panoramic view of Singapore from the Ce La Vi (yes, it is spelt that way) restaurant.

The other thing that stands out here is the amazing food that is probably the one reason that will make anyone come again and again to this otherwise sharply expensive city. Even a mundane lunch can turn out to be an amazing culinary experience that I realized at my first proper meal in the city at Muthu's. We ate at some amazing places but if I have to choose one it was at Din Tai Fung and its legendary Xiao Long Bao.
